Practice Areas
John concentrates his practice in construction and mechanics lien litigation, contract and commercial disputes, information technology litigation, corporate internal investigations, appeals, tort and products liability law, real estate and property loss, real estate, landlord/tenant, housing, and debtor/creditor law. He has handled hearings, trials and appeals in the state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the American Arbitration Association, and the International Chamber of Commerce Court of Arbitration.
John has been appointed, and has served, as a court-designated sole arbitrator for the Mortgage Foreclosure/Mechanics Lien Section of the Circuit Court of Cook County. He also frequently serves as an arbitration panelist and panel chairman for the Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Program, and has been appointed a designated mediator for the Chancery Division of the Cook County Circuit Court. All the bar associations in Cook County recently rated Mr. Walker as “Qualified” to serve as a Cook County Circuit Judge.

Prior Experience
John began his career at Winston & Strawn, where he worked from 1992 through 1998 in construction law, tort defense, and general civil practice. From 1998 through 2000, John worked at Gordon & Glickson, P.C., a law firm that specialized in information technology law. From 2001 through 2007, he returned to construction law practice, joining the construction law boutique Stein, Ray & Harris LLP, where he was a partner until 2007. Beginning in 2008, and continuing through his formation of the Waveland Law Group LLC on May 3, 2010, he broadened his general and construction practice while a partner at Cantwell & Cantwell.
Education
John N. Walker received his B.A. in Economics in 1986 from the University of Chicago, with special honors and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1992.
He is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois and is a member of the trial bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is also admitted to practice in the Eastern District of Michigan and the United States Courts of Appeals for the 5th and 7th Circuits.
